To Give Or Not To Give Written by Angelica Beechum

The New Year has arrived! New ideas, new insight, and vision. Although 2022 is a breath of fresh air from the past couple of years, it has presented its own challenges within financial stability. Many people are cutting back and balling on a budget to save money, and ensure provisions are plentiful to last throughout the year. In a perfect world, one would cross fingers and wish for the best outcome and everything will work out according to plan. Believe me, we all want luxury without paying luxury prices. In the real world, we are facing a variety of obstacles to financial stability from job termination, homelessness, and economic devastation.
In this season, we all share the burden of struggles; however, we also share the benefits of giving to others who are less fortunate. The common principle of “the greater good” is not just a slogan when you see the realities of our community.
Driving past a camping tent on the side of the road in fifteen degree weather should provide a strong urgency to act on behalf of someone else’s quality of life. Giving is a sacrifice that serves the greater good because the world holds an indescribable beauty to behold! Good people still win over scumbags.
Miracle on Wheels, aka “MOW” is a non-profit organization operating under a local Denver church, The House of Joy Miracle Deliverance Church, Inc. Every month, MOW prepares free hot meals and sack lunches for various homeless shelters in metro Denver such as St. Francis Shelter, Samaritan House Homeless Shelter, Denver Rescue Mission, and many others. They are in compliance with COVID-19 regulations and prepare all meals wearing protective masks and gloves. MOW is one of the few organizations that physically commutes to various shelters to provide food and clothing for those in need since 2019.  During 2021, over 2K free hot meals have been served, and the movement continues this year as they project to serve up to 250 meals per month.
